"How is she feeling?"
Everything is going very smoothly with Shannon and the baby. While super tired, she's hanging in there and showing some serious endurance. She's still working too much, and night shifts at that. As much as I tease her, she's one of the toughest people I know. I can't even imagine going through the transformation that women go through. I appreciate it, but I'll just never fully understand it. To honestly answer that question... I don't know.
"Are you ready to be a dad?"
Day by day, it becomes a little more clear that I'm about to be someone's Dad. All the responsibilities that I'll have scare me for sure, but it just doesn't matter. I know that I'll do whatever it takes to raise this child.
"Are you glad it's a boy?"
You bet! If somebody screwed up, and it turns out to be a girl? Send it back...OK, don't send it back. I just always wanted a boy first. I'd take a girl, too. We haven't really picked any names out for a girl, though.
"Do you guys have any names picked out?"
Yes, we do. Miles Shepherd has been more or less decided on. Nope, no family names in there...we just both liked Miles Shepherd. Shannon credits me with thinking it up, but I credit her with not letting me choose Ronin (meaning masterless Samurai warrior). Would have been cool, although not socially accepted. The meaning of the names are pretty important to us. Biblical? Yes.
Miles - Soldier
Shepherd - (metaphorical) Someone who watches over, looks after, or guides.
