Changing the topic completely, last night I had Joe take me to the ER. For the past couple days I have been sick (just a head cold). Stayed home from work yesterday and was feeling absolutely terrible. Couldn't hardly breath at all, and unable to take anything. Well last night I was sitting watching TV and my chest started to hurt. I figured it was from the cold, either settling in my chest or because I have been breathing through my mouth so much. Didn't think too much about it and went to bed. About two hours later I couldn't sleep and it was hurting more. Than I started to get kinda scared. It felt like my heart was racing (which it has been beating much faster since I became pregnant) and I was afraid it was going too fast thus causing the pain. So not wanting to go to the hospital, but really not wanting there to be a problem with my heart, I had Joe take me to the ER at about 11:30 last night. Once we got there they ran all the normal tests they have to run when someone says they have chest pain. So I had to have an IV, ECG, chest X-Ray... my heart rate was fast, averaging around 96-115. But they kept telling they didn't think it was my heart. Blood work came back fine, film came back okay, and ECG must have been okay too... So you know what the Doc said it prolly was, acid reflux (aka heartburn). I felt kinda dumb when that was all it was, but I never realized that heartburn hurts so much. It really does feel like your heart is burning! And as far as my HR, he said that it was pretty normal considering I am pregnant and pumping for two. I still don't like my heart beating so fast, but I was relieved to hear that it seems to be okay. So he had me drink nasty Maalox, which did nothing. Than he sent me home with a script for Pepcid (twice a day) and Claritin for my congestion (I didn't ever think about using Claritin for my cold, but it's an antihistamine so it does help dry up your sinuses). I asked him about Sudafed, since they say you can have that when your pregnant (after the first trimester). I hadn't taken any though cause I still wanted to cautious, and he said that one of the side effects would have been an increase in HR... that made me really happy I hadn't taken it :) My heart didn't need to go any faster! Today I am still home from work, but I plan to go back tomorrow... as long as all this medicine works! I was able to sleep last night after I took them, so that was good :)
An Old Cherokee told his grandson, "My son there is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy and truth." The boy thought about it, and asked, "Grandfather, which wolf wins?" The old man quietly replied, "The one you feed." - author unknown

And the belly begins....
I'm really glad you are okay. Don't feel bad, you don't know what normal pregnancy stuff feels like...this is your first time. Always better to be safe than sorry. Hearburn is awful. Love you! Tell baby "hi" from Aunt Jess.
Love ya sis,
Jess
Hi! First, Congrats to you both on the upcoming baby...second, in case you don't know who I am, my husband and I are freinds with Nate...anyway...sorry that you haven't been feeling well..that's tough when you are pregnant. I had that same racing heart feeling too and ended up going to the hospital, I was just dehydrated! It was VERY scary though. Hope that you feel better soon. The video is going to be really cool!
