It has been years since I have even thought about this blog. Honestly I didn't even think I would remember how to log in (turns out Google runs Blogspot, so no problem there). Not exactly sure what my intentions are getting on here and posting again, but I am extremely fatigued by Facebook and all the wonderful garbage it has to offer. So many people are on Facebook and using it for all their communications with friends and family, that I find myself almost feeling trapped to keep on it for fear of losing touch of family. But that entrapment is burdensome. So I guess I still want an outlet and I am going to give our old blog some attention, and just see what I do with it.
Maybe I am alone with feeling stressed from Facebook. I love that I can quickly find lots of people from my life and get a picture of how they are doing, but usually by the time I am done reading through my newsfeed I walk away feeling heavy. I can go from reading something really thought-provoking, to something that makes me laugh, to tragedy, and the whole host of woes that people are always sharing with everyone. All within a matter of minutes my emotions have ran the whole gamut. It is exhausting, and I am burned out with it. I have been cutting back for awhile now, stopping myself when I begin to feel the "have to check Facebook" need that that is baloney. And it is nice. To go to sleep at night and NOT need to know what everyone else is doing before they go to sleep. I want to disconnect. Because I have a feeling it will give me more emotional energy to connect with those who matter the most to me.
So here goes... A little less Facebook for me (and then I post this to Facebook... geez).
An Old Cherokee told his grandson, "My son there is a battle between two wolves inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, resentment, inferiority, lies and ego. The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, empathy and truth." The boy thought about it, and asked, "Grandfather, which wolf wins?" The old man quietly replied, "The one you feed." - author unknown

Miles Walks!
In the last week or so, Miles has discovered his ability to walk. He's still getting the hang of it, but learning very quickly. Here's a short video that I threw together.

Way Overdue...
Sorry it has been so long since I have updated!! Combination of not finding time to do it, and not feeling like I have anything to say. A couple of weeks ago we had a nasty virus hit our house, Miles was sick first with Mommy following shortly and Dad pulled up the rear. It was the first time Miles had ever been sick, and he got hit pretty hard. Constant fever, coughing, congestion (so bad). The boy wouldn't eat a thing, and barely was drinking anything. It was a rough week before we finally started to see some relief. All upper respiratory nastiness, but for Joe & I it made it's home in our chests for awhile (I had to use an inhaler, not a fan of those things. But it did help)... in fact we are still coughing here and there. Thanks to Grandma for coming down and taking care of us when Mommy was too sick to do it! And Uncle Nate too ( he makes a great chicken soup)! Thankfully no one took pictures of me feeling lousy, but we had to document for Miles... it being his first time and all... if you click on the photos and enlarge them you can see the stream from his nose. This was a constantly flowing... gross but not near as bad as what came out when the boy sneezed. Oh man, I have seen enough snot for a long long time.
New news is that Miles is walking!!! Very slowly but oh so cute... he just decided the other day to do it. For the rest of that day he was consistently standing up (even to eat) or walking to things. The next day not so much, cause crawling is way FASTER :) I haven't been able to get good video of it yet, but when I do I will try and post it!

February 16, 2009 - I'm ONE
We celebrated Miles birthday on the Saturday prior, which made it Valentine's day. It was a good day. Good weekend actually, a lot of family came down from out of town and stayed. Miles loved the company! Seemed a little bit strange at first to have so many people in the house when he woke up from his nap but he adjusted quickly. I "attempted" to make a fancy birthday cake for him. Boy that is not easy!! I honestly thought it would be, oh well. It turned out okay I guess, main thing is that it tasted good :) So it was suppose to be a guitar (Miles really likes guitars, drums too but tell me how would you make a drum set out of cake?) and I had to improvise slightly when I ran out of frosting (th
Aside from birthday news, he is almost ready to walk. Getting more brave all the time. Oh I almost forgot, he finally has teeth!! He had 3 teeth pop through all at once (a few weeks ago now) and is waiting for the 4th which is almost through. Talks all the time... his own language of course, though we can make out a few words here and there. Like; ball, book, Vern, teddy, yeah, what, kitty, Elmo (loves Elmo). I think there is more but I can't think of them right now, I left out momma and dadda figured those were just a given. He really is just lots of fun most of the time. Poor Vern has to deal with getting ears pulled (he really doesn't like that), and being a jungle gym (which he doesn't seem to mind)... I am excited for it to warm up and than we can begin to play outside.
Here are some more birthday pictures -

Mr Pickles
Turns out Miles REALLY likes pickles! First try and there was no sour face at all, just big eyes and wanting more :) So we gave him his own pickle... He sucks on it and ends up scraping off the pickle from the skin with his gums... After wards, however, a bath is required cause the boy may as well of been swimming in pickle juice :)
